5G business operation and 5G communication applications were particularly eye-catching due to the announcement last year indicating these highlights of the industries. Chunghwa Telecom (中華電信) and FETnet (遠傳電信) cooperated with Taiwan Smart City Industry Alliance to establish "5G Application Theme Pavilion." Nokia, Wave-In Communication (申波) and others also showcased the latest applications of 5G. In addition, 25 manufacturers have jointly initiated the "5G Smart Pole Standard Promotion Alliance" to promote Taiwan's 5G smart pole industrial technology standard, advertising and advancing Taiwan's 5G smart city solutions to the global market.
KYMCO (光陽) Industrial Group unveiled four models of electric motorcycles along with comprehensive solutions for charging and electricity exchange facilities. The installation of 4,000 electricity exchange stations in Taiwan is scheduled for the end of next year. The market anticipates intense competition in the coming years between KYMCO, a leading fuel motorcycle manufacturer, and Gogoro, the leading brand of electric motorcycles in Taiwan. KYMCO will also hold a 5G & E-mobility forum with Chunghwa Telecom, and the two companies plan to announce their cooperation to enter the ASEAN market.
A student from FJU Finance and International Business interested in the area of "Intelligent Transportation” was amazed by how those technologies can possibly assist the government to create a safer, smoother, and more comfortable transportation environment. The innovative transportation solutions displayed in the Expo include "Train Occupancy AI Detection Assist System,” "AI Intelligent Sign Control and Intersection Safety Protection System,” "Technology Law Enforcement,” "Intelligent Bus," among others.
This year, a total of 10 counties and municipal governments participated in the physical exhibition, including Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Taichung City, Kaohsiung City, Hsinchu City, Pingtung County, Yilan County, Taitung County, and Kinmen County, marking the largest number of counties and municipal governments to participate in the exhibition. In order to promote cross-disciplinary exchange and cooperation, the organizers invited more than 30 domestic industry associations to the event. The organizers also invited various ministries, counties, and municipal governments to encourage business-related unit directors and contractors to participate in this exhibition, hoping to promote more AIOT cross-industry application cooperations. The co-organizers of Taipei City, Taoyuan City, and Kaohsiung City also held a bilateral business cooperation meeting online.

Another student from FJU Finance and International Business department said that she was overwhelmed by the scope of the Expo. “It’s impossible to look into all the companies I’m interested in within a day,” she said, “but I managed to gather as many brochures as I can.” As to the website of the Expo, “The website is very user-friendly, and the information it provides really enables me to understand better about those companies,” she said. “There are more than 400 solutions for smart city on the website with the number of views and likes shown below, which help me get to the hottest topics very quickly.”
The Expo not only showcased the latest technology, but it also demonstrated how those lofty concepts can be actually implemented in people’s daily lives. “They all look quite expensive,” one student from FJU Finance and International Business department said. “But you can foresee a future where those technologies are prevailing and the costs drop to a degree that is affordable to more companies and people.”
